I’ve never really had a selection of concealers in my makeup collection before. I normally just stuck to my usual Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and never tried anything else. Recently though I wanted to give… More
I’ve found myself not as into makeup as I’ve always been lately. I’ve had a lot more makeup free days, than days wearing makeup. That being said when I do wear makeup I’ve been going back to the same few products over and over again.
As a base I’ve been loving the Sleek Lifeproof Foundation. This is a medium coverage foundation, but I’ve been wearing a light layer of it, and its helped to even out my skin tone, and it makes my skin look fresh and natural. I’ve really been trying to embrace my skin lately, and I’ve finally got a skin care routine that I love and is working for me, so this foundation has been great at showing my natural skin, but also evening out my uneven skin tone.
Along side that, I’ve been loving the ColourPop No Filter Concealer. This is such a creamy concealer, with great coverage, which is perfect for me as my under eye circles are SO bad. This also does not crease on me at all, which is rare in a concealer! The only downside is that it oxidises quite a bit, but I find once its been blended in its really not that noticeable. Just go for a shade lighter than you think you’d need.
The last makeup product I’ve really been loving is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless pressed powder. I’ve really struggled to find a powder that I can use under my eyes to set my concealer, that doesn’t look cakey or crease instantly, but this one is perfect. I apply it using a power puff and I press it into my skin, and brush away the excess. This has been working so perfectly for me and its so cheap too!
As I mentioned earlier I’ve found a skin care routine that I’ve been absolutely loving lately, and pretty much all of it is from L’Oreal. The first product I’ve been loving is the Hydra Genius Aloe Water Moisturiser. I’ve been loving this as it’s a gel, rather than a cream and it feels so much lighter on my skin, but still gives my skin the moisture it needs.
The next product is the Smooth Sugars Glow Scrub. This smells incredible and has worked so well on my skin. I use it on dry skin to make it work more effectively, and it makes my skin feel so smooth and soft, but also gives it a really lovely glow. Its not a harsh scrub either, so it feels gentle on the skin, and not like its causing damage like other scrubs I’ve used in the past.
The last product I’ve been obsessed with the is Pure Clay Glow Mask. I use this alongside the Detox mask, which is also amazing. The Glow mask really helps to brighten the appearance of the skin and makes the skin feel so smooth, as it includes exfoliants in it which help to remove dry skin.
My skin has felt amazing, and my bank balance is pretty happy with it to, when compared to all of the Kiehls products I used to use. You can get amazing skin care for a small price and I’m so happy I’ve finally realised this.
Happy Valentines Day!
I’m not a fan of Valentines Day at all, but I still got inspired by the day to create a pink themed makeup look, so I thought I would share with you how I created it.
For my base I used the NARS Radiance Primer which gives the skin a gorgeous glowy look, and I then applied the Iconic London Foundation Stick, which I’ve really been loving lately. This gives a really full coverage look, but also manages to look quite natural and dewy on the skin. I used the Rimmel Match perfection concealer, and I cream contoured using a Primark Concealer stick in a dark shade. I set everything in place with the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, and bronzed my face with the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Bronzer. For blush I used a Kiko cream blush in the shade Rebel Bouncy. This is quite a dark pink shade, that gives a gorgeous natural blush to the cheeks. Finally to highlight I used a mixture of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Gleam Glow kit, and the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette.
Moving onto the eye’s the main product I used was the Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette. I thought this would be the perfect palette for a pink, Valentines inspired look as the shades are perfect for it. I used the shade ‘Shy’ as a transition shade through the crease, an then I used the shade ‘Flamingo’ to deepen the crease. I used the shade ‘Moon Dust’ on a flat brush with Fix+ to pack onto the eye lids. The Fix+ is great at intensify shimmery shades. I finally used the shade’s ‘Bossy’ and ‘Man-eater’ to deepen the outer crease of the eye, and to blend the shimmer. I added ‘shy’ and ‘Flamingo’ onto the lower lash line, taking it quite far down to smoke out the look. I used the shade ‘Pink Opal’ from the Kat Von D Alchemist palette in the inner corners, and I applied the Eylure Enchanted lashes.
For my brows I used my absolute favourite product- The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow, in the shade Dark brown. I absolutely love this as it makes my brows look so defined. Finally for my lips I used Jeffree Star liquid lipstick in Doll Parts with a Tanya Burr lipgloss in the shade ‘DayDream’ on top.
One of my goals for 2018 is to save money, and not spend my money on unnecessary things . So having said that I’ve decided to start ‘Shopping My Stash’. By this I mean, going through my makeup draws, wardrobe and beauty stash and using the products I already have, but barely use.
I have so much makeup, and loads of clothes that I never wear so each month I’m going to make a conscious effort to use things I wouldn’t normally in the hopes that I will re-dicover old favourites and save money during the process.
For my January/February makeup draw I decided to pull out The Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, Sleek Contouring and Blush Palette, Nars Laguna bronzer,MAC Blankey Lipstick and The Morphe 35W Palette.
I forgot how much I loved the Rimmel Match perfection Foundation! I use the concealer on a daily basis, which I love, and used with the foundation works so lovely on my skin. The coverage is medium, but its build able, and although the shade is a bit light, it works well on my skin type.
The Sleek Contour and Blush Palette is one I have loved time and time again. It’s the perfect palette for travelling as I love and use all three of the shades! The bronzer/contour shade is very similar to the Benefit Hoola, the blush is the perfect dupe for NARS Orgasm and the Highlight is so pretty! I could happily live with just this palette for the rest of my life!
NARS Laguna bronzer was a favourite of mine for a while, before I replaced it with Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. Since pulling it out I’ve fallen in love with it again. It’s such a good shade for me, and I love the slight shimmer running through it.
The L’Oreal True Match Powder is okay. I bought this when I ran out of my Laura Mercier Powder, and it worked well for me, but I will be sticking to my favourite Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder.
I’ve not been loving lipstick for quite a while now. I’ve been more than happy to wear a full face of makeup, without any lipstick on, but I’m ready to get out of that habit! I’ve decided to pull out MAC ‘Blankety’ lipstick, as its such a gorgeous nude shade, and its a creamy finish which is my preferred lipstick type. I’ve really been enjoying wearing this again lately.
Lastly for makeup is the Morphe 35W Palette. I bought this ages ago and never really used it. I have so many palettes in my collection that loads tend to get forgotten. This has some lovely shades in and I’ve actually had some lovely comments on my eye makeup since using this, so I’ve been really enjoying this.
I recently had a bit of a freak out over my life. I suddenly realised that I no longer want to do what I’ve been planning to do over the last few years. I wanted to give up on everything I had worked towards.
I’ve wanted to be a makeup artist for so long, and I spent a good few years in college studying and training to be a makeup artist, and I absolutely loved doing it. I learnt everything from fashion, beauty, face and body painting, special effects and hair styling, and I love being so creative and artistic all the time. Yet after taking a year off before going to uni, I suddenly came to the realisation that I don’t want to do this as a career. I don’t want to go to university for 3 years and spend thousands and thousands of pounds on something that I no longer love. That would be a waste.
Telling my mum that I had changed my mind was awful, but in the end I had no reason to stress as she was so supportive of my choice. She genuinely wants what is best for me, and if I’m not happy then why should I continue with it for another 3 years.
So the question is now, what do I want to do? And the answer is I have no idea! I’m 22 and I have no idea what I want to do with my life, which kind of stressed me out to start with.
Over the last couple of days I started to piece my life together and figure out what I want to do, and for the now I don’t want to give myself a solid plan. Like I said, I’m 22 and in the grand scheme of things, thats not old at all. I have years to figure myself out, so I’m going to take it step by step.
For now my plan is to get myself a full time job, and save money. One of the things I’m desperate to do is go travelling. I’ve seen some of Europe throughout my life, but I want to see more. So at the moment, my plan is to interrail around Europe in the summer of 2019. That gives me a year and a half to save my money, and have the experience of a life time. I’m going to talk more about my travelling plans in a separate blog post, so keep an eye out for that. Other than that, I want to work a lot on this blog. I absolutely love blogging, and writing whats on my mind, so hopefully this blog will become bigger and better. And if i do go travelling that will make for some amazing content, which I’m already excited to write!
So the purpose of this post is to basically say that its okay to not know what you want to do. These things will come to you in time, and I’m okay with waiting for that moment.
I definitely squealed a little bit inside when I saw the teasers for the new Huda Beauty mini palettes on trendmoon! I already own the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette, so I knew if these were any way as good as that then I would love it!
There are four different palettes to choose from- The Smokey Obsessions Palette, The Warm Brown Obsessions Palette, The Mauve Obsessions Palette and The Electric Obsessions Palette. I was instantly drawn to the gorgeous warm tones of the Warm Brown Palette, and I knew that it would become a staple in my everyday makeup routine.
These palettes retail for an affordable £25 each which I think for the quality, and the brand in general is pretty reasonable, and you can purchase Huda Beauty products from Cult Beauty.
When the palette arrived I was surprised by how small it was. I don’t know why but I was expecting it to be a lot bigger than it is, but now looking at it, it is the perfect size- especially for travelling! The palette comes with a pretty good mirror, and the nine shades, in reasonably sized pans.
So moving onto the actual shades. The palette consists of 8 matte shades, and one shimmer, which I think is okay. I personally really love an all matte eyeshadow look at the moment, so this wasn’t a problem for me at all.
The top row has a Deep Burgundy shade, a bright orange and a dark red (it looks more bright in the swatches). All of these swatched really well. The pigment is really strong and they felt really creamy.
The middle row has a really dark, chocolate brown, a super shimmery gold, and a creamy white. The brown is perfect for deepening up the crease, and the pigment of this is really good. The gold shimmer swatched amazingly! As you can see in the images the pigment is so strong, and it looks so vibrant and bright. I cannot wait to play around with this. As for the creamy white, its the perfect shade to put all over the lid, to set any eye primer you use, and to neutralise the lid.
The bottom row has a peachy, pink shade, a light brown and a rusty red. Again these all swatched really well, the pigment was really strong on all of the shades. The light brown shade is the perfect transition shade for the crease, and the rusty red is such a pretty shade. I can see myself using it a lot.
So here is a makeup look I created using this palette. I love how the palette performed on the eyes. The colours were pigmented and blended out so easily. The gold shimmer is so intense and pretty, and I absolutely love it. Overall I’m super happy with the palette, and it’s definitely going to be a good one for everyday wear.

Skin Care to me is such a huge part of my daily routine. It’s always been something I have loved and been fascinated by, but I’ve always struggled to find something that really works for my skin. My skin is so up and down, and I never know whether it wants to be dry or oily, or a bit in-between, so I need products to help balance it out.
For the longest time I’ve always used cheap, drugstore brands, which are great, but I’ve found they don’t do an awful lot for my skin personally, so I started looking into more high end skincare brands to see if they can make an improvement. I’ve used products from Liz Earl, Estee Lauder, Emma Hardie, the lot, and I’ve not fallen in love with any of them, until I tried Kiehls.
I’m not 100% sure what initially made me want to try Kiehls, but I remember my first product from them being the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, which I bought in an airport in the South of France, and I instantly fell in love with it. The eye cream really helps to plump up the skin around my eyes, and helps to make me look more awake, which is essential for me with the dark circles I have under my eyes.
This product started off an amazing, yet expensive addiction for me. From there on I went on to try the Ultra Facial Cleanser and the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing serum Concentrate. The Ultra Facial Cleanser is a creamy cleanser, that when massaged into the skin with water, foams up and makes my skin feel really firm and well cleansed. I don’t use this to remove my makeup, as I find it quite sensitive to use around my eyes, but as a second cleanser I couldn’t recommend it enough. As for the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate- This is THE BEST product I’ve ever used on my skin. This serum gives instant results to the skin, making the skin appear more plump, hydrated, radiant and smooth. I stopped using this for a while after I ran out of my first bottle, and my skin had a freak out. I cannot live without this.
Following this came the Ultra Facial Moisturiser and the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. The Ultra Facial Moisturiser is perfect for dry skin. Its not heavy on the skin, but gives the skin instant and lasting moisture. This is one of the only moisturisers I have repurchased time and time again. The Midnight Recovery Concentrate is such a cult product for Kiehls, which is what made me want to try it. The thought of putting oil on my skin scared me a lot initially, but it works wonders! I use 2 drops of this and I press it into the skin at the end of my skin care routine. This, similar to the hydro-Plumping serum gave instant results. When I wake up in the morning my skin looks fresh and radiant.
I’ve recently started using the Daily Reviving Concentrate, which again is so good. I use this in the same way as I do the Midnight Recovery Concentrate, but at the end of my day time routine. This gives really similar results as the night time one, and has the most lovely scent of lemons. Its so refreshing to put on my skin in the morning.
The last two products I use are new to me, and I only have them in mini’s. The first is the Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner, which so far I’m really enjoying using. I’m also using the Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence. I’m not 100% sure of the purpose of this product, I got given it as a freebie, but it feels really lovely on my skin, and I’m excited to see how my skin looks over the next few weeks with using this.
Have you tried anything from Kiehls? Whats your favourite, and what products do you want to try out?
I absolutely love organising, and I like to think I’m a very organised person in general. I love writing things down, and keeping weekly planners, and after watching so many videos on Bullet Journals I wanted to start my 2018 by making a one for myself.
The Journal I had was a Christmas gift, so I’m not actually sure where its from, but you can find tons on Amazon, for really affordable prices.
I wanted to keep my Bullet Journal really simple, and easy to keep up with. I didn’t want to use fancy writing, and crazy designs on every page, as for one I’m terrible at those things, and two it takes so long. I also wanted to only include spreads that are suited to me, and I know I will actually fill out.
My title page is super simple, with the circle design, and the title in the middle. I wanted to add some more design to the second page, which is why I kept it so simple. For the Index I decided to add this star design, which took quite a while, and is what made me decide to keep to quite a simple design throughout, but I do love it, and thank it looks super pretty!
The next two pages were my yearly diary. These spreads are super handy to have, as its great to refer to, when doing your monthly spreads. I again kept this spread really simple, with the simple lines around the edges, and the pink over the months is there to add a bit of colour to the spread.
After this is where it gets more personal to me, and what I wanted to include in my journal. I added a 2018 Goals page, to keep track of what goals i want to achieve. I split this up into categories; Blogging, Fitness and Money, and I also added another section, reminding me to read 12 books throughout the year.
On the next page over I have a reading list page. I really like the layout of this spread, and its one of the more decorative pages in my journal. I haven’t added any books yet, as I need recommendations, so if you have any, leave them down below please!
Moving on to my tracker pages. My first tracker is my fitness tracker. My goal for the year is to workout a minimum of three days a week, so I’ve spread out the page in months, with the months split into weeks, and each week has three sections for me to fill in whenever I workout. Hopefully by the end of year all of it will be filled in.
Opposite that I have my period tracker. I’m terrible at remembering to log these, so this way I hopefully will.
Next up is my Social Media logins. This is to help me keep track of my social media accounts and the logins of them.
The last spread is my Social media Tracker. I’ve spilt this up into Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WordPress; and since photographing I’ve added Pinterest onto the end too. This is to keep track of the change in my followers monthly, and to see where I need to improve my engagement.
So those are my spreads for my 2018 Bullet journal! If you have one, let me know what spreads you’ve included in yours!
I’m absolutely rubbish when it comes to money. I have zero savings, and when I have money in my account I just spend it. One of my goals for 2018 is to save as much as I can for a trip I want to go on to new York in a couple of years time. So these are some of the things I’m going t try and do over the year to help me save. If you have any more tips then please, please let know!
- Set up a savings account, with a direct debit. – I want to have a direct debit sent to my savings account every month on payday, with a set amount of money to save. This way that money is already in my savings and I won’t be as tempted to spend it recklessly.
- Meal Prep for work- Working in a restaurant means there is always food on hand when I don’t bring any with me, but we have to pay for it, and while we do get a discount, it all adds up, and I end up spending so much money on food in work.
- Using my own coffee- Carrying on with my previous point, I’m always buying coffee in work, and when I’m out and about, so carrying around a reusable cup with coffee made at home will save me a small fortune. Maybe I’ll treat myself to a starbucks/costa once a week, as apposed to my multiple cups a week.
- Shopping my Stash- I used to do this a lot with my makeup, so I want to try it with my wardrobe too. I have so much makeup and fashion items that I can’t even remember half of what I’ve got, so I’m going to shop through my own things every few months and bring out old favourites that I’ve forgotten about instead of buying new things to add to the stash.
- Unsubscribe from email lists- You know those boxes you tick next to the terms and conditions, that you don’t even think about not pressing. Yeah they always mean that you’re going to end up with tonnes of emails from all the brands you shop at, giving you discount codes and letting you know when new products are released. The temptation is always too much and I end up spending my money. Unsubscribe from them! The temptation will be gone! You won’t even know about that 20% off party dresses sale!
- Set a weekly budget- I like to set myself a budget for the week, go to the bank, take the money out of my account and live off of that cash for the week. Make sure you know how much you need for bills etc, and work around that. Hide your card away, give it to your mum/partner etc. and ask for it back when the week is over. You can budget enough for your plans for the week, petrol for your car or other means of transport etc. and also keep an amount aside as a back up incase you have any spontaneous plans, and if not save it!
So those are the tips I’m going to be putting into action this year to save money! New York I will be coming back in a few years, with all the money to blow in Sephora and Bath and Body Works!
Theres nothing better than not having to go to work/school and having no plans but to stay in and be lazy all day! This is my guide to the perfect lazy day in, that can be enjoyed alone of with your best pals.
Get your pamper on!
A bath is always a great way to start a lazy day. I love using a cocktail of LUSH products and setting up my iPad on the side with some YouTube videos or my current favourite TV series.
My favourite bath products include-
I lazy day isn’t a lazy day without my skin care routine and a face mask. My go to cleanser at the moment is the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser, and some of my favourite face masks include LUSH Cup O’Coffee, L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask and Kiehls Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energising Radiance Masque.
Exfoliating and shaving my legs is always something I’ll do on a lazy day too! My favourite Scrub is Rub, Rub, Rub from LUSH. I’ll come out of the shower and cover myself in the Body Shop Mango Body Butter after, and put on some fresh pyjamas.
If I’m feeling up to it, I’ll also paint my nails too!
What to watch.
I love watching films and YouTube on a lazy day!
Some of my favourite lazy days films include-
Friends with Benefits
As well as watching films I love to binge watch YouTube videos. Some of my favourite channels for all day watching include-
You cannot have a lazy day without snacks! Whether its a box of chocolates, a sharing bag of crisps, or you go all out and bake some cakes or make a pizza. A lazy day is not complete without food!
2017 has brought some of the best beauty products into my life! Being a makeup artist means that I have tried a lot of products over time, and being a beauty blogger and skin care addict, I’ve tried a number of beauty products also, but these are the products that have really stuck around and won’t be going anywhere for a while.
Starting with my absolute favourite makeup find ever! The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade. This stuff is the holy grail of eyebrows! Its so easy to use, lasts all day, gives you the best looking brows ever, and the tiny pot lasts so long! One pot has lasted me pretty much the whole year! I couldn’t recommend this enough!
The Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation has worked so well on my skin! I’m a full coverage kinda gal, and this gives just that! It’s full coverage but also looks so natural on the skin, and it doesn’t feel heavy. It covers all of my imperfections, and just gives my skin a flawless look. It’s my go-to foundation, and I couldn’t recommend it enough!
Next up is my most used highlight palette of the year. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in ‘That Glow’ (which isn’t available anymore! What?!). I have used and loved this palette so much, as you can clearly see from the photo. My favourite shades are ‘Sunburst’ and ‘Bubbly’. I love a really intense highlight and this gives me just that. It looks so gorgeous on the skin!
The last two makeup products are from Kat Von D. We had a new counter in Cardiff this year, and I have spent so much money there since! My first favourite from the brand is the Hydrating Primer. I have quite dry skin so this works at being a moisturiser and a primer in one for me. It helps my makeup stay put all day, and adds moisture to my skin, which works great with the Estee lauder foundation, as that can be pretty dry sometimes. My second favourite is the Lock-it Concealer. I have this in quite a light shade, which is perfect for highlighting under the eyes, but also for mixing with my other concealers. The coverage is amazing, and it hides all of my dark circles.
As for skincare, my absolute favourite is the kiehls Midnight Recovery Oil. I think Kiehls generally just kills it with their skincare, everything I have tried is incredible. The Midnight Recovery Oil is amazing. I used two drops every night, patted into the skin, and my skin looks so clear and fresh in the morning. Its one of those products where I notice a difference in the morning if I haven’t used it.
Lastly is the Rub, Rub, Rub body scrub from LUSH. This is my absolute favourite product from LUSH, and this is my third tub of it this year. I use this on dry skin before I shave my legs, and it makes my legs so smooth and soft. Its quite a moisturising scrub, thats not too harsh. I absolutely love it!
