It’s Okay to be Unsure About Your Life.

I recently had a bit of a freak out over my life. I suddenly realised that I no longer want to do what I’ve been planning to do over the last few years. I wanted to give up on everything I had worked towards.

I’ve wanted to be a makeup artist for so long, and I spent a good few years in college studying and training to be a makeup artist, and I absolutely loved doing it. I learnt everything from fashion, beauty, face and body painting, special effects and hair styling, and I love being so creative and artistic all the time. Yet after taking a year off before going to uni, I suddenly came to the realisation that I don’t want to do this as a career. I don’t want to go to university for 3 years and spend thousands and thousands of pounds on something that I no longer love. That would be a waste.

Telling my mum that I had changed my mind was awful, but in the end I had no reason to stress as she was so supportive of my choice. She genuinely wants what is best for me, and if I’m not happy then why should I continue with it for another 3 years.

So the question is now, what do I want to do? And the answer is I have no idea! I’m 22 and I have no idea what I want to do with my life, which kind of stressed me out to start with.

Over the last couple of days I started to piece my life together and figure out what I want to do, and for the now I don’t want to give myself a solid plan. Like I said, I’m 22 and in the grand scheme of things, thats not old at all. I have years to figure myself out, so I’m going to take it step by step.

For now my plan is to get myself a full time job, and save money. One of the things I’m desperate to do is go travelling. I’ve seen some of Europe throughout my life, but I want to see more. So at the moment, my plan is to interrail around Europe in the summer of 2019. That gives me a year and a half to save my money, and have the experience of a life time. I’m going to talk more about my travelling plans in a separate blog post, so keep an eye out for that. Other than that, I want to work a lot on this blog. I absolutely love blogging, and writing whats on my mind, so hopefully this blog will become bigger and better. And if i do go travelling that will make for some amazing content, which I’m already excited to write!

So the purpose of this post is to basically say that its okay to not know what you want to do. These things will come to you in time, and I’m okay with waiting for that moment.

Dream Destinations

If you know me, you’ll know that I love to travel. I love to wander around beautiful cities, taking in all of the beautiful sites and exploring all of the hidden places. Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to visit a fair few different places, but I do have a list of cities that I desperately want to go to and see.

New Orleans

I don’t know what it is about New Orleans, but everything about it just appeals to me. It look so beautiful and there sees to be so much history there. I feel like I could wander around for hours there without getting bored.

LA

LA has always been on my list of places to visit. Everything from the beaches, to the shopping looks amazing. There are so many iconic places to visit there, such as the Hollywood sign, Downtown LA, Disney and so many more. And of course there is also the chance of meeting a few celebrities whilst you’re there.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam looks so pretty. I know so many people who have been and have had nothing but good things to say about it. There are so many museums I would love to visit there, and I would love to ride a bike along the canal.

New York

I’ve already been to New York, and although I absolutely loved it, it rained and snowed the whole time I was there. So I would love the chance to see New York in the Spring/Summer and to get a whole different feel of the place. I would love to be able to spend a day wandering around Central Park, maybe have a picnic too.

Venice

I absolutely love Italy, having been to Rome already, and Venice is one of the cities I really wanted to go to. Everything from the food, to the canals looks beautiful.

Where would you like to go most in the world?! Also have you been to any of the places on my list? Would you recommend it?

Shopping My Stash

shoppingmystashshoppingmystash2

So as of right now, I’ve finished uni for the time being, and I’m working part time, meaning money is pretty tight at the moment. It’s gotten to the point now where I’m not really able to treat myself to new bits of makeup whenever I feel like it, and splurging on some new clothes. So I’m taking the opportunity to go through my humongous stash of makeup and rediscover some bits that I used to love, and to try some products I’ve not really given a go yet.

The Bobbi Brown Long-wear Cream Shadow Sticks used to be a favourite of mine. I have three shades of these and I used to wear them all the time. They are perfect as a cream base for eyeshadow, or blended all over the lid for a really simple eye look. My favourite shade of this is ‘Golden Pink’ and I’m so excited to start using this again.

I purchased the Anastasia Beverly Hills Concealer on a whim and it ended up shoved at the back of my draw, having never been tried. I think now would be the perfect time to give it a go.

I bought the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick from Duty Free about a year ago, and I liked it quite a lot. It didn’t blow me away like other highlighters I’ve tried, but I’m up for giving it another go.

I bought the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette, again on a whim (I need to stop doing that), and I fell in love with it. This was my palette of choice for quite a few months, but then other palettes came in, and it got forgotten amongst the rest. I’m excited to use it again in my daily makeup routine.

Lastly is the Maybelline Fit Me foundation in the Matte finish. I don’t often wear matte foundations so I’m not really sure how this crept into my collection, but I’m up for giving it a go and seeing how I feel about it.

What products have you got stashed away in the bottom of your draws? Let me know in the comments.

My Everyday Makeup | SimplyBeki

Even though I’m an absolute beauty addict and a makeup artist, I find doing my own makeup an absolute chore most days, so I’ve come up with an everyday makeup routine that takes me no time at all, and that looks good to.

So lets take a look at my everyday products…

everydaymakeup

For my base I always start off with the Too Faced Hangover Primer. Primer for me is an absolute must, especially if I’m going to be in work all day. This one helps to brighten my skin, and ensures my foundation goes on flawlessly. My everyday foundation changes all the time, depending on what kind of coverage I want on the day. For this particular day I used the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation. This foundation gives a flawless finish, and is a medium coverage. My absolute favourite concealer is the Rimmel Match Perfection concealer. This covers my dark circles really well, whilst also highlighting under my eyes. This also doesn’t crease at all. To bronze up my skin I use the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel. This gives my skin a gorgeous, bronzy glow. And finally to set this all in place I use the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder.  This leaves my skin looking matte, and it feels so lightweight and smooth on the skin.

For contour and blush I’ve been loving my Sleek Contouring and Blush Palette in Light. This is a palette I constantly go back to, due to the pigmentation and blend-ability of all of the powders. This is my must have when I’m traveling. To highlight I’ve been obsessed with the NYX Strobe of Genius palette, especially the purple shade. Its not a subtle highlighter, but I absolutely love how different it is.

Moving onto eyes, I’ve been obsessed with the NARS Loaded Palette. I use the shade ‘Castille’ all over the lid and blended into the crease, and then a small amount of ‘Privilege’ on the centre of the lid and in the inner corners. Its a super simple look, but I love it. For mascara I’ve been loving the KIKO Maxi-Mod Mascara, which unfortunately was limited edition, and is no longer available. I love the small wand, as it gets all of my lashes covered, and it really adds loads of volume to my lashes.

My absolute favourite product for my brows is the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade. I use the shade medium brown, and I fill in my brows using this. To set them in place I use the Sleek Brow Gel.

For lips I tend to switch it up depending on the day, but for the most part I will usually wear a nude shade. The one I’m wearing now is MAC Faux.

June Birchbox

Birchbox

I used to be obsessed with birchbox. I was subscribe for a good few years, but being an adult means that my money has to go elsewhere so I cancelled for a while. Seeing as I’m no longer in education I thought I would give it another go and try out some new products.

The theme of Junes Birchbox is ‘Day tripping’. The theme was inspired by Brighton’s beach huts and ice creams, and holiday destinations in the UK, which is where the idea of bringing out the ‘Birch Bag’ came about. The Bag is the perfect accessory for packing away all of you daily essentials for a trip somewhere in the UK.

So what’s inside Junes ‘Birch Bag’?!

Birchboxcleanser

First up is the Cowshed Cow Pat Hand Cream, which retails for £8. There is nothing I hate more than dry hands so this is perfect for me to throw in my handbag to use throughout the day. This hand cream is packed full of essential oils, such as grapefruit and coriander.

The next product is the Korres Milk Proteins 3 in 1 Cleansing Emulsion. I’ve never tried anything from Korres so I’m super excited to try this out, and it’s come at the perfect time as I’ve just ran out of my current cleanser! This cleanser is suitable for all skin types, and says it cleanses, tones and removes makeup. This retails for £15. Keep an eye out for a review coming soon!

birchbox eyeliners

The eyeliner I received is from the brand Arrow. It’s a brand I’ve never heard of before so I’m excited to try this out. The Enhance Waterproof eyeliner is a nude-coloured eyeliner that is said to instantly brighten tired looking eyes. It’s also Vegan and Cruelty-free which is amazing! Mine is in the shade ‘Bright Now’ and it retails for £12.

I also received the brow liner from the brand MeechNMia, again another brand I’ve never heard of. I received mine in the shade #21, which is think is going to be too light for me, but I’ll give it a go! This retails for £12.99.

As I am ‘new’ to Birchbox, having not had it for a few years, I got to receive a free gift for subscribing. I chose the Ciate Fierce Flicks eyeliner. This is a felt-tip applicator, which is not my favourite, but I’m still excited to give it a go! This retails for £15.

Birchbox body scrub

The last product I received is what I’m most excited to try out! I’ve seen the Scrub Love Coffee Body Scrub floating around Instagram for quite a while, but I’ve never got around to trying it, so when I saw it was in this Bag I was so excited. This scrub is made using 100% natural ingredients, and it smells of coffee, which I love! It’s said to buff away all of the dead skin cells, whilst also hydrating the skin. This retails for £11.95. Keep an eye out for a review of this coming soon!

Let me know if you’ve tried Birchbox before, and also any other beauty subscription boxes you recommend!

Review | NARSissist Loaded Palette

DSC_3044

This is the most dreamy palette I have ever owned! The NARS Loaded palette consists of 12 beautiful neutral shades, in a variety of matte and shimmer formulas.

I was pretty hesitant to buy this due to the hefty price tag, but its a limited edition palette and being a makeup artist I felt like I had to have it.

As I mentioned before the palette is full of gorgeous neutral shades, all of which I have already used, and each one is as beautiful as it looks. Each shade has such a creamy, easily bendable formula, and I’ve had little to no fall out from the darker shades.

I’ve used this palette on clients already and each look has been stunning. The colours are so versatile. You can create a stunning, everyday look as well as a dark, vampy evening look.

Can we also just take a moment to appreciate the packaging of this palette?! A little impractical, yes, but so stunning! The mirrored effect is pretty handy, and its gold! So whats not to love!

Honestly, this is one of the best palettes I own, and I’m so glad I bit the bullet and bought it!
