Shopping My Stash | January

DSCN1617

One of my goals for 2018 is to save money, and not spend my money on unnecessary things . So having said that I’ve decided to start ‘Shopping My Stash’. By this I mean, going through my makeup draws, wardrobe and beauty stash and using the products I already have, but barely use.

I have so much makeup, and loads of clothes that I never wear so each month I’m going to make a conscious effort to use things I wouldn’t normally in the hopes that I will re-dicover old favourites and save money during the process.

For my January/February makeup draw I decided to pull out The Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, Sleek Contouring and Blush Palette, Nars Laguna bronzer,MAC Blankey Lipstick and The Morphe 35W Palette.

I forgot how much I loved the Rimmel Match perfection Foundation! I use the concealer on a daily basis, which I love, and used with the foundation works so lovely on my skin. The coverage is medium, but its build able, and although the shade is a bit light, it works well on my skin type.

The Sleek Contour and Blush Palette is one I have loved time and time again. It’s the perfect palette for travelling as I love and use all three of the shades! The bronzer/contour shade is very similar to the Benefit Hoola, the blush is the perfect dupe for NARS Orgasm and the Highlight is so pretty! I could happily live with just this palette for the rest of my life!

NARS Laguna bronzer was a favourite of mine for a while, before I replaced it with Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. Since pulling it out I’ve fallen in love with it again. It’s such a good shade for me, and I love the slight shimmer running through it.

The L’Oreal True Match Powder is okay. I bought this when I ran out of my Laura Mercier ย Powder, and it worked well for me, but I will be sticking to my favourite Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder.

I’ve not been loving lipstick for quite a while now. I’ve been more than happy to wear a full face of makeup, without any lipstick on, but I’m ready to get out of that habit! I’ve decided to pull out MAC ‘Blankety’ lipstick, as its such a gorgeous nude shade, and its a creamy finish which is my preferred lipstick type. I’ve really been enjoying wearing this again lately.

Lastly for makeup is the Morphe 35W Palette. I bought this ages ago and never really used it. I have so many palettes in my collection that loads tend to get forgotten. This has some lovely shades in and I’ve actually had some lovely comments on my eye makeup since using this, so I’ve been really enjoying this.

My Holy Grail Products

Throughout my years of experimenting with makeup and skincare, I’ve come across some products that I love, some I hate and some that are somewhere in between. Being a makeup artist I’m constantly changing the products I’m using on a daily basis, and with so many new products coming out all the time I constantly switching up what I’m using, but over the years there have been a few products that I can never part with, that I just keep going back to and I absolutely adore. So lets delve into said products…

So lets start with skin care. I absolutely adore skin care, and I’m one of those people who believe that spending more on skincare will help to achieve a clearer complexion. The Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate is AMAZING. Before using this I suffered from fairly dry skin and this has transformed my skin from dry and dull looking, to moisturised and healthy looking. All you need is one pump per use, which is around a pea sized amount and pat it into your skin. It instantly makes your skin appear plumper and healthier, and I love it.

When it comes to face masks I feel like LUSH always pull through. Their masks are amazing! In particular the Cup O’Coffee one. Not only does it smell like coffee (DUHHH) but it literally makes my skin feel like silk! It’s full of exfoliating beads which I rub into my skin when i remove the mask, and it buffs away all of the dry skin, and leaves my face feeling soft and silky. I LOVE it.

So not quite skin care, but the Crabtree and Everlyn hand creams are my absolute fave! They are sooooo moisturising and don’t leave an oily, greasy film on the hands. They sink into the skin so quickly and the range of scents are insane! I’ve not tried one that I don’t like yet!

So moving onto makeup! My Holy Grail foundation is without a doubt the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. This foundation goes onto my skin flawlessly. No other foundation I’ve tried has come close to this. It gives me the perfect amount of coverage; not to light, yet not too heavy. It feels so lightweight on my skin, doesn’t crease and it stays put pretty much all day, which is something no other foundation seems to do. No matter how many foundations I try, I always go back to this. Keeping with the Chanel theme another Holy Grail product of mine is the Soleil Tan De Chanel. This is a cream bronzer that is so beautiful. The colour is the perfect bronze shade for summer and the formula of this goes onto the skin beautifully. This is a product I bring out of hiding every summer without fail. I’m probably due another tub of this now, seeing as I’ve had it a good few years now, but I can’t bring myself to part with it.

Lastly is a fairly new product to my collection, but one I’m already sure is going to stick around for a long time. The Too Faced Hangover Primer is the perfect primer for my skin. Its super moisturising and really plumps up my skin. It helps my foundation go on so smoothly and keeps it looking great all day. I even love wearing this without foundation as it really does brighten up my complexion and really helps my skin look more healthy.

So there’s a round up of my Holy Grail products, the products I couldn’t live without!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of them before and what your thoughts are on them!

Summer Beauty Essentials

DSC_3033DSC_3041

Summer may not be my favourite time of the year. Yes, I’m one of those people who enjoy cold weather and layers of clothes, but the one thing I do love about summer is being able to wear glowing, peachy makeup.

Heres a little look into some of my essential products for summer…

  • Too Faced Sweet Peach palette! I absolutely LOVE this palette! Not only does it smell delicious but the colours are also beautiful! The palette has a selection of both neutral, everyday shades, as well as a few bolder colours to create really fun looks with. I love using the green on my lower lash line!
  • MAC Fix+ is a must for summer! Although the weathers not great in the UK, we still get the occasional hot days and this works great at keeping my makeup in place, and stopping me from looking like a sweaty mess! Highly recommend!
  • The Iconic London Illuminator in the shade ‘Original’ is STUNNING! ย Its a liquid illuminator and my god is this glowy! It can be used mixed with your primer/foundation, or as a highlighter and both ways are beautiful. This is a favourite product of mine! I’m literally obsessed!
  • Next is the Kryolan cream liner in ‘Turquoise Breeze’. I love all of Kryolan’s cream liners. I think the formula is amazing and they do not budge at all. This particular colour is stunning for summer! I recently wore it to a wedding with a neutral eye, and it gave a gorgeous pop of colour to my eyes!
  • The Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel is a cream bronzer that I literally go back to every single summer without fail. Its the perfect bronze shade, without being too orange and the cream formula goes on so smoothly! I’m most definitely due a new one of these soon!
  • Lastly the Victorias Secret Body Spray in the scent ‘Love Spell’ is one of my favourite scents! It has such a sweet, summery smell to it, and although I wear this pretty much all year round, it does really give me those summer time feels whenever I spray it.

So those are my summer beauty essentials! I literally couldn’t recommend this products enough! Although as much as I love wearing them, I am counting down the days until Autumn!
