Solait Mousse Express Dark Tan | Review

Being as pale as I am naturally, I love applying a good fake tan! I’ve tried quite a few over the years, some good and some not so good. I’ve always steered clear of the cheaper tans, worried that they will turn me into a streaky, orange mess, but I decided to eventually give this one a go!

I picked the Solait Express Dark Tan Mousse up in Superdrug for only £4.99, which compared to the tans I usually buy is such a bargain! This is a 60 minute tan, although I would suggest leaving it on for up to 2 hours if you want a dark tan.

I was really apprehensive about using this, as I mentioned earlier I was worried that a cheap tan would leave me streaky and orange. When I applied this with a mitt I was really worried. The tan seemed to go on quite streaky, and wasn’t drying down well at all. Every time I rubbed the tan in, it seemed to move around rather than blend into the skin. I decided to carry on applying anyway and tanned my whole body as I usually would. The colour of it was a lovely golden brown though, so I was pleased to know I wouldn’t be orange for the foreseeable future.

With most tans I would leave it to dry for about 5 minutes before getting dressed, but this one seemed to take ages to dry, and it definitely transferred onto my clothes.

As I mentioned earlier it is a 60 minute tan, but I always like to leave my tans on longer than suggested, as I like them to be darker, so I left my tan on for 2 hours and went about my daily routine.

After two hours I washed off the tan in the shower and I was left with a thankfully streak free, even, golden tan. I was genuinely really shocked that a £4.99 fake tan gave me similar results to a £20+ tan. The only downside was a really strong tan scent, stronger than you would get with the more expensive tans, but thats something I can ignore easily enough. I’m currently 4 days into wearing the tan as I write this and my skin is still looking golden and I’ve not had any patchiness appear. I’ll definitely be purchasing this again!

Review | Garnier Summer Body Moisturising Lotion

I’m not a huge user of fake tan. I’ve always shied away from it, too scared that I’m going to end up orange and streaky. I’m fed up of being so pale now, and with my holiday just around the corner, I don’t want to be that person who turns up pale as can be, so I’ve been putting this Garner Summer Body Moisturising Lotion to the test over the last few weeks.

So the first thing I noticed that surprised me is that the actual lotion isn’t tinted. Its pretty much white in colour. I was expecting it to be quite tan/orange in colour as it was going to tan me, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The scent of this is lovely. The lotion contains Apricot extracts, so it smells super fruity and sweet, which I love!

So the lotion is said to; give 12 hours of moisture, gradually builds a natural looking tan, and is said to be fast absorbing. It does literally everything it says its going to. Its super moisturising and absorbs into the skin within a few minutes, which is something I always look for in a moisturiser. There’s nothing worse than having to hang around nearly naked waiting for your moisturiser to sink in before getting changed. As for the tan, within a few days of applying the lotion daily I was left with a gorgeous, sun-kissed tan, that looked completely natural. Even my mum commented on how nice the colour was.

So overall the moisturiser was a complete hit, and I’ve been using it non-stop since. I’m definitely going to be using it daily on the lead up to my holiday.
